The original Quanta became a cult paddle for one reason: it hit like something three times the price. It also had two nagging problems โ€” a peel-ply face that wore down fast, and a stock build so light that most people had to tape it up before it played right. The Quanta Pro R3.16 is Ronbus going back and fixing both.

The R3 is the elongated shape and the biggest hitter in the line. At 16.5 inches it gives you the most leverage and the highest power ceiling on full swings โ€” and it asks for the cleanest contact in return. This is the shape for players who drive, serve big, and finish points from the baseline.

USAP PBCoR.43 approved. Legal for sanctioned tournament play. No asterisk, no UPA-A-only workaround.

Best For

  • Singles players and aggressive baseliners who want maximum leverage
  • Big servers and drivers chasing the highest power ceiling in the Quanta line
  • Players already comfortable on an elongated shape who don't want to change profiles
  • Quanta owners tired of re-taping and re-buying as the face wears out
  • Buyers who want foam-core performance without paying $250+

Skill Level & Play Style

Skill level: 3.5 through 5.0+. The smallest sweet spot in the line means it rewards clean contact and punishes sloppy contact โ€” not the shape to learn on.

Play style: Power. Built for drives, serves, overheads, and putting balls away with full swings.

Why Players Like It

  • It's ready to play. The built-in internal weighting means you're not starting your ownership with a roll of lead tape.
  • The face lasts. NanoBond replaces peel ply โ€” the single biggest complaint about the original Quanta.
  • Real reach. A half-inch of extra length over the widebody shows up on stretch volleys, overheads, and low balls at the baseline.
  • Quiet hands. The EVA elastomer ring soaks up vibration that the original Quanta sent straight into your palm.

Performance Notes

The R3 carries the highest swingweight in the line at 116 and the lowest twistweight at 6.21. That's the elongated trade in a nutshell: more mass behind the ball and more leverage on full swings, less margin when you catch one off the middle. Players who make clean contact get the most out of this shape; players who don't will be happier on the R4 or R2.

Because the internal weighting sits inside the paddle rather than on the perimeter, the Pro behaves differently under tape than a standard Quanta. If you're coming off a weighted Quanta R3, start with roughly 2โ€“3 grams less per side than you're used to and work up from there. Add at 3 and 9 o'clock for stability, at 12 for drive power.

Quick Buying Summary

Buy it if
  • You want the most power and reach in the line
  • You already play an elongated shape
  • You drive and serve big and make clean contact
  • You'd rather not tape a paddle to make it playable
Skip it if
  • You want forgiveness on miss-hits โ€” go R2.16
  • You want a balanced all-court profile โ€” go R4.16
  • You're still developing consistent contact

How It Compares

Paddle Shape The Difference
Quanta Pro R3.16

RONBUS Quanta R3.16 Elongated The original. Same shape, peel-ply face, no internal weighting โ€” needs tape to match. Cheaper entry point.

Quanta Pro R2.16 Widebody Biggest sweet spot and fastest hands, least reach.

The Technology

NanoBond Surface
A cross-linking process builds a nano-scale bonding network into the carbon-fibril polymer matrix, producing a wear-resistant textured face. The point is spin that survives โ€” peel ply grips well and then stops gripping.

4th-Gen Foam Core
Lightweight EPP foam core wrapped in an EVA elastomer ring. No honeycomb, so no core crush โ€” and the ring adds pop while killing vibration.

Internal Weighting System
Weight built into the paddle instead of taped onto it, so stability is there from the first swing.

Reinforced Throat
Stiffer throat construction for a more stable, consistent feel through contact.

FAQs

Is the Quanta Pro USAP approved?
Yes โ€” USAP PBCoR.43 approved and legal for sanctioned tournament play.

How is the Pro different from the standard Quanta?
Three things: the NanoBond face replaces peel ply for durability, internal weighting is built in, and the throat is reinforced. Same 16mm foam-core platform, same shapes.

Do I still need to add lead tape?
Less than before. Many players run the Pro stock. If you customize, start lighter than your standard Quanta setup โ€” the internal weight is already doing some of that work.

Which shape should I get?
R2.16 for forgiveness and hand speed, R4.16 for a balance of reach and stability, R3.16 for maximum reach and power. Stick close to whatever shape you already play.

What's the warranty?
6 months against manufacturing defects. Paddle cover is not included.
