The Selkirk LABS Project Boomstik is a pure power paddle — built to bring the boom and keep it. Selkirk's engineers took the punch players loved in the SLK ERA Power and added roughly 14% more exit speed, then built it on a foam core durable enough that they say they still haven't been able to test it to failure. This is the Canyon Court colorway, 16mm.

Heads up — tournament players: The retail Boomstik (with the MOI Tuning System) is not USAP-approved for tournament play. Selkirk only offers a separate UPA-approved Boomstik Elongated (without MOI) by request for certain pro events. If you need a USAP-legal paddle, grab the Selkirk OMNI instead — same family, built to USAP-compliance standards.

Best for

Players who want to win the speed-up battle. Rec play, open play, and leagues where USAP certification isn't required. If your game is drives, serves, and overpowering people at the kitchen, the Boomstik is built for you.

Skill level

Intermediate to advanced. Power this raw rewards players who can already control their swing — it'll punish lazy resets as easily as it punishes your opponent.

Why players like it

  • Booming power that lasts. The BoomCore doesn't crush or break in — it hits the same on day 200 as day one.
  • Takes time away from opponents. Selkirk says it shaves ~25ms off their reaction window — about a blink.
  • Big, stable sweet spot. Pre-installed MOI perimeter weights keep off-center hits honest.
  • Spin to back up the power. The InfiniGrit face adds bite so your drives still dip.

Performance notes

Widebody is the most stable, forgiving build — wide face, the biggest sweet spot, and the highest twist weight (8.2) for the steadiest off-center response. Elongated moves mass forward for more reach and plow-through, with a higher swing weight (118 vs 112) for heavier put-aways at the cost of a touch of maneuverability. Both run the 16mm BoomCore and InfiniGrit face, so spin and the core's signature pop carry across shapes. Selkirk rates the InfiniGrit surface for spin up to ~2,000 RPM.

Quick buying summary

  • Want max power for rec & open play? This is the one.
  • Forgiveness first? Widebody.
  • Reach & plow-through? Elongated.
  • Need USAP-legal? Go Selkirk OMNI instead.

How it compares

Think of the Boomstik and the Selkirk OMNI as two ends of the same family. The Boomstik is all-out power for players who don't need tournament certification. The OMNI takes that foam-core tech and balances it into a USAP-compliance-built all-court paddle. Pick Boomstik for raw boom; pick OMNI if you compete.

The tech

  • BoomCore: a PureFoam center fused with an EVA Power Ring — Selkirk's most powerful core system, built for explosive pop with no core crush and no break-in.
  • InfiniGrit surface: a durable textured face that holds spin roughly 3× longer than raw carbon.
  • Multistrata T700 face: a 3-layer carbon system tuned for energy return and durability.
  • MOI Tuning System: semi-permanent perimeter weights, pre-installed for a max sweet spot and balanced feel. (Leaving them in is recommended — removing can damage the MOI parts, and it's the reason the retail version isn't USAP-legal.)
  • Octagonal handle: defined edges to index your grip by feel.

FAQs

Is the Boomstik tournament legal? No — the retail Boomstik with the MOI Tuning System is not USAP-approved. Selkirk offers a separate UPA-approved Boomstik Elongated (without MOI) by request for specific pro events only. For USAP play, choose the Selkirk OMNI.

Widebody or Elongated? Widebody for the biggest, most forgiving sweet spot; Elongated for reach and heavier put-aways.

Can I remove the MOI weights? They're semi-permanent and pre-installed for optimal performance — Selkirk warns that removing them can damage the MOI parts. Leave them in.

How much spin? Selkirk rates the InfiniGrit face up to ~2,000 RPM.
