RPM Friction Pro V2 Hybrid Flat Top

The Friction Pro V2 in the shape a lot of people have been asking RPM for. The hybrid splits the difference between the elongated and the widebody — enough added length to reach high balls and attack out of the air, with a wider face that keeps the sweet spot forgiving.

The flat top squares off the head and pushes mass toward the tip, which is where the plow-through on drives comes from. Pick your core: 14MM for faster rebound and raw pop, 16MM for stability and a plusher reset.

What You're Getting

  • CarbonBite carbon fiber surface — RPM's grit-optimized face. Spin is the entire reason this brand exists.
  • Axial Carbon Layup — the V2's structural update over the original Friction Pro, paired with an enhanced EVA foam ring.
  • Tri-Density core — three densities working together for a bigger sweet spot and solidity out to the edge.
  • Two core thicknesses — 14MM and 16MM, same shape and same surface.
  • USAP approved, PBCoR .43 — tournament legal.
  • RPM 1-Year Warranty against manufacturing defects, two claims per paddle.

14MM or 16MM?

Same shape, same surface, same core construction — the difference is feel. The 14MM is quicker and poppier, with faster rebound and more raw power on tap. If you attack early, live in the hands battles, and generate your own power, take the 14. The 16MM is more stable and more forgiving, with a plusher reset. If you want to hold shape on resets and blocks, take the 16.

Best For

Advanced players who want the V2's power and spin but have never fully gotten along with a true elongated. If the 16mm Elongated feels a little unwieldy at the kitchen line and the widebody feels too short, this is the shape to try.

Spinwave Takeaway

The V2 is a real step up in power over the original Friction Pro without losing the Gen 3 feel, and the hybrid makes it accessible to players who bounced off the elongated. If you liked the Friction Pro but wanted more pop and a more forgiving head, this is your paddle. The 16 is the safer pick for most people; the 14 is for players who already know they like a thinner core.
