The Perseus is the paddle Ben Johns built his case on, and the Pro IV 14mm is the aggressive version of it. This is that exact paddle in a limited Tropical Red/Pink run — same 14mm Propulsion core, same TechFlex Power, same 5.5" handle, different paint. Limited allocation, and we don't expect a second one.
Best For
- Singles players and aggressive doubles — the 14mm rewards stepping in
- Drivers and speed-up specialists who want the ball off the face fast
- Two-handed backhands and heavy topspin off the 5.5" handle
- Players with smaller hands — 4.125" grip out of the box
Skill Level & Play Style
4.0 and up, honestly. The 14mm core is poppy, and pop punishes mistimed swings — if your hands aren't there yet, the 16mm is the smarter buy. But if you already play with pace and want a paddle that gets the ball out of the kitchen and past someone, this is the configuration.
Why Players Like It
Pop on demand. The thinner core responds faster off the face — counters and speed-ups arrive before your opponent is set.
Edge-to-edge sweet spot. TechFlex Power stretches the usable face outward, so off-center contact still goes where you aimed.
Reach. 16.5" elongated head plus a 5.5" handle covers ground a standard shape doesn't.

Performance Notes
The 14mm Perseus is the power end of the Pro IV line. It gives up some dwell time to the 16mm — resets take more feel and more commitment — but in exchange you get a paddle that finishes points. Spin is respectable but not the headline; the face is smoother than the Gen 3 grit paddles, which is also why it stayed USAP-legal. If grit is what you're chasing, the CRBN TruFoam is the better target.
Quick Buying Summary
Get it if: you're 4.0+, you play with pace, and you want the Perseus shape in a colorway that's actually limited.
Skip it if: you're a reset-first control player, you're below 4.0, or you need a larger grip without building it up.
How It Compares
- Perseus Pro IV 16mm — same shape and handle, thicker core. More cushion and dwell on soft shots, less raw pop. The control-first version of this paddle.
- Perseus Pro V 14mm (Blaze Red) — the next generation. KineticFrame throat integration and a newer face texture at $299.95. Real gain if you play often; the Pro IV is the better value if you don't.
The Technology
TechFlex Power (TFP) — foam outside the frame, under the edge guard. Increases face flex and pushes the sweet spot toward the edges.
Propulsion Core — dual-layer foam honeycomb. Compresses for power, cushions for feel.
Hyper-Foam Edge Wall — perimeter foam that stabilizes the face and manages the balance point.
FAQs
Is this different from the standard Perseus Pro IV 14mm?
No. Same mold, same core, same face. The Tropical Red/Pink edge guard and graphics are the only difference.
Is it tournament legal?
Yes — USAP PBCoR .43 certified and UPA-A pro certified.
The grip feels small. What do I do?
That's the 4.125" circumference, which is standard on the 14mm. One overgrip brings it up roughly an eighth of an inch. We'll add one for you before it ships if you ask.
Is this coming back in stock?
Limited run. When our allocation is gone, that's it.
