Same Hyperion Pro IV that Ben Johns put into play β€” just louder. The Tropical Blue/Pink is a limited run on JOOLA's most recognizable frame, and when they're gone, they're gone. Nothing changed under the paint: aerodynamic elongated head, 16mm Propulsion core, TechFlex Power, and the longest handle JOOLA makes. You're buying the same paddle, in a colorway most people at your courts won't have.

Dual-certified. USAP PBCoR .43 and UPA-A pro certified β€” legal for sanctioned play across both sanctioning bodies. No asterisk.

Best For

  • Players who want reach and swing speed without giving up forgiveness
  • Two-handed backhands β€” the 5.5" handle is the longest in JOOLA's lineup
  • All-court games that need a paddle to reset one shot and finish the next
  • Anyone who wants the Pro IV performance in a colorway that isn't stealth black

Skill Level & Play Style

This is a 3.5-and-up paddle. The 16mm core adds dwell time and cushion, which makes it more forgiving than the 14mm β€” you get a softer landing on resets and dinks while still having real put-away power when you step in. If you're an aggressive all-court player who lives in the transition zone, this is the thickness to take.

Why Players Like It

The head cuts air. Hyperion's aero-curve is the whole point of the shape β€” less drag through the swing means faster hands at the line.

Big sweet spot. TechFlex Power puts foam outside the frame but under the edge guard, which widens the usable face and softens mishits.

Leverage. That 5.5" handle is a real advantage for two-handers and for players who generate spin with a longer lever.

Performance Notes

The 16mm Hyperion plays softer than its spec sheet suggests. The Propulsion core gives you dwell time you can actually feel on drops, and the Hyper-Foam edge wall keeps the face stable when you catch one off-center. Where it separates itself is hand speed β€” the aero head genuinely moves faster through a firefight than a squared-off frame. Spin is solid rather than class-leading; if maximum grit is your priority, look at the CRBN TruFoam instead.

Quick Buying Summary

Get it if: you want an elongated all-court paddle with a long handle, forgiving face, and a colorway nobody else has.

Skip it if: you're under 3.5, you want maximum spin above all else, or you prefer a shorter handle and a wider face.

How It Compares

  • Hyperion Pro IV 14mm β€” same frame, thinner core. More pop and a quicker response, less cushion on resets. Take the 14mm if you want a livelier paddle.
  • Perseus Pro IV 16mm β€” same 16mm core and 5.5" handle in a straight elongated head instead of the aero-curve. Slightly more raw power, slightly less hand speed.

The Technology

TechFlex Power (TFP) β€” foam placed outside the frame but under the edge guard. It redistributes weight, increases face flex, and stretches the sweet spot toward the edges.

Propulsion Core β€” dual-layer foam honeycomb that compresses on contact for power, then cushions for feel on soft shots.

Hyper-Foam Edge Wall β€” perimeter foam that stabilizes the face and controls the balance point.

FAQs

Is this a different paddle from the standard Hyperion Pro IV 16mm?
No. Identical construction and performance. The only difference is the limited Tropical Blue/Pink edge guard and graphics.

Can I use it in tournaments?
Yes. It's USAP PBCoR .43 certified and UPA-A pro certified, so it's legal under both sanctioning bodies.

14mm or 16mm?
16mm for control, dwell time, and forgiveness. 14mm for pop and faster response. Most all-court players land on 16mm.

Will this colorway come back?
It's a limited run. Once our allocation sells through, we're not expecting a restock.
