The Widebody Weapon, Wearing a Dragon.

Anna Bright's Scorpeus Pro IV 14mm — JOOLA's wide, fast, spin-loaded power paddle — now in a limited Vietnam Colorway: gold Lý-dynasty dragon motifs curling across a matte black carbon face. Tournament-proven performance, art-piece looks. Strictly limited.

The Scorpeus has a cult following for one reason — it's a true widebody that doesn't feel like one. Wider face, bigger sweet spot, but it still swings fast enough to win hand battles at the net. This Vietnam edition keeps every bit of that performance and wraps it in a finish you won't see across the net twice. Under the paint it's the same 14mm Kinetic Response core and Grip-Tech carbon face as the standard Scorpeus Pro IV. Same power. Same spin. A whole lot more story.

BEST FOR

  • Hands-battle players who live at the net and need a wide, fast face for quick exchanges.
  • Spin-and-power hitters who want pop on drives without giving up grip on the ball.
  • Players who miss the center — the widebody shape gives you one of the most forgiving sweet spots JOOLA makes.
  • Collectors who want a paddle that doubles as a display piece.

SKILL LEVEL

Dialed for intermediate to pro players (3.5+). The 14mm core runs crisp and poppy — you get fast feedback and lively counters, which rewards players with developing hands and a real swing. If you want maximum dwell and a softer, more muted feel, the 16mm Scorpeus is the move instead.

WHY PLAYERS LIKE IT

Wide, forgiving face.
The 8" widebody shape spreads the sweet spot side-to-side, so mishits still come off clean and stable.
Fast through the air.
The Aero-Dynamic edge and lower swing weight keep it quick — it doesn't drag in fast hands exchanges.
Spin you can trust.
The Grip-Tech carbon weave bites the ball for heavy, repeatable spin on serves and rolls.
Looks like nothing else.
Gold dragon art on matte black — the rarest Scorpeus you can put in your bag

PERFORMANCE NOTES

Measured figure below is third-party lab data (independent paddle-testing databases), not a manufacturer claim. Qualitative notes reflect published third-party reviews of the Scorpeus Pro IV 14mm.

~110
Swing Weight
Lower = faster hands, quicker maneuverability.
8"
Face Width
Widebody = bigger, more forgiving sweet spot.
14mm
Core
Crisper, poppier, more feedback than 16mm.

Reviewers consistently call the Scorpeus Pro IV a rare widebody loaded with power and top-tier spin — a paddle that swings fast and doesn't drag through long rallies. The trade-off versus an elongated paddle is reach: you give up a little length for a wider, more forgiving, faster-handling face. If you play a lot of net battles and want spin + pop in a stable frame, this is the lane.

FAQs

Is this paddle tournament legal?

Yes — the Scorpeus Pro IV 14mm is approved by both USAP (PBCoR .43) and UPA-A, so you're cleared for sanctioned play under either body.

Does the Vietnam Colorway play any differently than the standard Scorpeus?

No — identical core, face, shape and specs. Same on-court performance. The only difference is the limited dragon-art finish.

Scorpeus or Perseus — what's the difference?

The Scorpeus is a widebody (wider face, bigger sweet spot, faster hands) while the Perseus is elongated (more reach and leverage). Net-battle and forgiveness players tend to prefer the Scorpeus; reach-and-power players lean Perseus.

Should I get the 14mm or 16mm?

Go 14mm (this one) for crisper pop and faster, livelier counters. Go 16mm for more dwell, a softer feel and added control.

Is this a genuine JOOLA paddle?

100%. It ships sealed in the full box and carries an NFC authentication chip you can verify in the JOOLA Infinity app.

NOT SURE IF IT'S YOUR PADDLE?

We actually play. Tell us your game — net grinder, counter-puncher, all-court — and we'll tell you straight whether the widebody Scorpeus is your move or if the Perseus fits better. Reach out and a real human at Spinwave will help you dial it in.
