New Drop · Experimental Power

The Shogun. Power With a Different Face.

Bread & Butter built the Shogun around a face you won't find anywhere else — a T-700 Carbon Fiber × Electroplated Polyester weave that gives it a metallic, almost titanium-like snap off the strings. Wrap that in a thermoformed elongated body and you get one of the poppiest, most distinctive power paddles on the market. This is the experiment that paid off.

Most paddles in this price range play it safe — raw carbon, same as everyone else. The Shogun doesn't. That electroplated weave on the face is the whole story: it's springier and louder off the ball than standard T-700 carbon, so drives jump and serves come off heavy. The elongated shape stretches your reach and adds leverage, while the 16mm high-density poly core and thermoformed unibody keep it stable instead of harsh. It's a power paddle with just enough control to keep you honest at the kitchen.

BEST FOR

  • Drivers and bangers who want pop and plow-through and like to dictate pace from the baseline.
  • All-court players who want a paddle that hits big but can still reset when they have to.
  • Two-handed backhand players — the 5.5" handle leaves room to stack both hands.
  • Players who want something different — the electroplated face looks and sounds like nothing else on the court.

SKILL LEVEL

Best for intermediate to advanced players (3.5+). The Shogun runs poppy and lively — there's a lot of energy coming off that face, which rewards players who already have a controlled stroke and soft hands. If you're still developing touch, that same pop can make dinks and resets jumpy until you dial it in. Brand-new beginners will likely find a softer, more muted paddle easier to learn on.

WHY PLAYERS LIKE IT

Big, springy pop.
The electroplated polyester weave gives the face a lively, almost trampoline snap — drives and serves come off hot.
Plow-through power.
A swing weight of 120 means the paddle carries real mass through contact — you don't have to muscle the ball.
Reach and leverage.
The 16.5" elongated shape extends your contact point for more put-away angles and serve power.
A look all its own.
The metallic electroplated face is a genuine head-turner — nobody else at the courts is swinging this.

PERFORMANCE NOTES

Measured figures below are third-party lab data (independent paddle-testing databases), not manufacturer claims. Qualitative notes reflect published third-party reviews of the Shogun.

120
Swing Weight
Higher = more plow-through power.
6.18
Twist Weight
Stability and forgiveness off-center.
16mm
Core
Thermoformed unibody for stability.

Reviewers consistently call the Shogun one of the poppiest paddles they've tested — a genuine power-and-pop weapon with a springy, energetic face. That comes with a trade-off: the swing weight and pop give it some head-heaviness, so it's a touch slower in fast hands battles at the net than a lighter, control-first paddle. If you want raw power and a face that does something different, this is the lane.

THE TECH

T-700 Carbon Fiber × Electroplated Polyester Weave
The Shogun's signature face — an experimental weave that adds a metallic, springy pop you won't get from standard raw carbon, while T-700 carbon keeps it durable and grippy on the ball.
Thermoformed Unibody Construction
Patented thermoforming (U.S. Patent 11,597,169) fuses the paddle into one sealed unit — stiffer, more stable, and a bigger sweet spot than cold-pressed builds.
16mm High-Density Poly Core
A thicker, denser honeycomb core that adds dwell and control to balance out the lively face — so it hits big without feeling out of control.
Vibration-Dampening Handle
An octagon handle wrapped for vibration dampening — comfortable hold, clean feedback, and a defined edge for finding your grip.

FAQs

Is the Shogun tournament legal?

Yes — the Shogun is USAP approved, so you're cleared for USA Pickleball sanctioned play.

What makes the face different?

It uses a T-700 carbon fiber × electroplated polyester weave instead of standard raw carbon. That metallic weave is what gives the Shogun its signature springy, high-pop feel — it's frequently described as one of the poppiest paddles available.

Is this a power paddle or a control paddle?

Power-first. The elongated shape, 120 swing weight and lively face are all built for pop and plow-through. The 16mm core adds enough control to keep it playable all-court, but if your priority is a soft, muted control game, look at the Loco instead.

What grip size is it?

A 4.25" octagon grip with a vibration-dampening wrap. You can build it up with an overgrip if you want it thicker.

NOT SURE IF IT'S YOUR PADDLE?

We actually play. Tell us your game — banger, all-court, soft-game grinder — and we'll tell you straight whether the Shogun's your move or if something else in the lineup fits better. Reach out and a real human at Spinwave will help you dial it in.
